What is SEO PowerSuite?

Besides being 100% Free to try out, SEO PowerSuite is a set of 4 tools that help you take control of your search engine optimization. The four tools in question are:

• Rank Tracker
• WebSite Auditor
• SEO Spyglass
• LinkAssistant

What those four tools do, in essence, is give you the competitive analysis necessary to out-rank your competition. I use them on my websites, and they perform much better now that I know what I'm looking at, and what to look for.

Before SEO PowerSuite, I hired a link building service to generate some upward momentum on one of my problem websites. Needless to say, although it did jump considerably from the abyss of #200 in Google, the website would not budge past #80. Still no good.

Then I used WebSite Auditor. This tool does what it says, audits your website - actually it will audit any website, including your competition, and then it generates a report telling you several facts about your website - and also analyzes your competition and sees what they are doing right.

Then I realized I had wasted money on the link building service - my site wasn't SEO'd properly.

Which is why I'm such a supporter of SEO PowerSuite to begin with: it will save you money on wasted efforts like that website of mine.

SEO PowerSuite Has 4 SEO tools, as mentioned. They cover the gambit of your search engine optimization, from keyword research and deep digging to competitive analysis and spying out your competitor's link profile and keywords, to managing your linking campaigns in a purely whitehat method (sorry, black hatters!).

Rank Tracker

This is a search engine position tracker - using 687 or so search engines, and the company's proxies (so you don't raise a flag in Google for pinging their servers incessantly), you have a 3rd party opinion on your website's performance for any given keywords.

You can also check any other website's performance for any given keywords - so it's a great competitive research tool.

There are over a dozen data centers, from WordTracker to all of Google's products (suggest, AdWords, etc.) - if you have a "brand name" keyword data center, it's likely to be found in RankTracker.

The benefit to you is that you will be as close as perfect in your keyword research, with a robust array of keyword ranking tools and data centers at your disposal. RankTracker, in my experience, is easily the best keyword research tool out there, digging up loads of keywords in just a few clicks.

It will also print out a graph for you of your progress in time for any given keywords. Want to know how your latest PPC campaign affected your position? What about you most recent onslaught of press releases and video marketing? Get the "before" and "after" picture in a straightforward graph.

Like every tool with SEO Powersuite, this one is available separately, but you can try it out for free as long as you like. Of course, there are some functions, such as exporting the graphs, that you can't do in the free version - but the data is solid either way.

WebSite Auditor

WebSite Auditor is one of my favorite tools for checking your website's on-page SEO. Once you have dug your keywords using one of the dozen or so keyword data centers in RankTracker, and you build your website and add the all-to-important content, WebSite Auditor is like hiring a professional consultant to tell you if your website has been optimized well.

A keyword's no good unless implemented properly, so there are a number of metrics that WebSite Auditor will check. More than that, it will give you a score and:

WebSite Auditor spells out in detail what you need to do to out-flank your competitors' on-page SEO. You get a full report telling you how the top ten in Google are optimized for a given keyword, and you see their score for every category.

Have you ever wondered why this or that site out-ranked you on every page? This is one tool that will give you the eyes to see just why that may be. Combine this tool with SEO Spyglass and you really get the 3-dimensional view of why your website is being out-flanked.

What WebSite Auditor does well, however, is guide you through the next steps in what it takes to optimize your on-page SEO. This is a great tool for SEO consultants and companies to offer a customized report to your clients. There is no "guess work" in what went wrong or right, insofar as the use of content on the pages are concerned.

This auditing tool has its place in every IMer's toolbox, too - if you have websites that you want to rank and can't seem to make it move - you need to use WebSite Auditor ASAP (like I did - it was an eye opener!).

SEO Spyglass

This is one tool that applies for everyone who is competing for top ranks. Where WebSite Auditor checks your on-page SEO, SEO Spyglass checks your off-page factors (backlinks), and tells you a lot about your competition, too.

If you want to make very short use of your hunt for quality links, then this tool will tell you where your competition is getting their links from. You will learn their link PR and URLs and can very simply deconstruct and replicate it or beat them at their own game.

Combined with WebSite Auditor, you'll know in short order what it will take to out-do your competition. The wealth of information in this SEO Spy tool is precisely what you need to take their place for any given keyword - so long as you have the resources to do so.

Check the PageRank, the ratio of outbound versus inbound links, the quality of those links and their position in the search engines (you choose the search engine, there are 687 and counting). Find out what anchor text is being used, and the URLs that are linking to the competition's page with what anchor text.

Print out a report for ease of use, or store the information on your hard drive for comparing movements over time. (These functions are allowed in the premium version, but this tool itself is very cheap even if you didn't want the entire SEO PowerSuite.)

LinkAssistant

LinkAssistant is an immensely powerful link-building management tool. Many mistakenly believe it is only used for reciprocal linking - this isn't the case. LinkAssistant allows you to build any sort of links with your partners in your overall niche.

Specifically, this tool will allow you to locate potential link building partners according to the search parameters you specify (what keywords, etc.) - then it will send an email on your behalf that is professional and very likely to get results.

Just imagine being able to manage your link campaign, emails included, with an automated professional. It sounds too good to be true, but that's not all this tool does.

LinkAssistant also enables you to build a professional, HTML valid directory of link partners so that your visitors can easily navigate these links, and without distracting from your SEO. Load up the directory from inside the software - no need for a separate FTP client.

If you didn't want to use all of these functions (and I have only scratched the surface), being able to dig up the contact information (email, name) of your potential linking partners is an immense time-saver.

This is not black-hat or even "gray-hat," it's entirely legitimate. Use the tool to contact others in your niche for guest posting opportunities, if you want. Overall, this is a time-saving tool that can help you locate relevant linking opportunities without breaking a sweat.
